Paul Oxley's Unit (POU) are an English/Finnish Rock/Pop band based in Finland. The band was formed in 1980 when Englishman, Paul, met the Basement Band in Ekenas and, initially, went on the road as their sound engineer. The guys, however, soon realised Pauls talents as a singer and songwriter and it wasn't long before he was asked to front the band. A record contract with CBS (now Sony Music) quickly ensued and the bands first single, Another Heartbreak, went immediately into the top ten. Soon afterwards, the bands first album, 'Living in the Western World' was released and very quickly became a milestone in Finnish Musical history. Selling over 65,000 copies on it's release, the album went platinum (double platinum by todays standards) and remained at the No 1 spot on the Finnish charts for 4 months. The album's hit songs such as Terry's Inside and Spanish Bars are still played regularly on the radio today and have been voted into Finland's 100 all-time greatest song lists. The sound of Paul Oxley's Unit influenced many bands that followed in their wake and their touring success set the bench mark for years to come.
30 years and several hit albums later, Paul Oxley's Unit are still going strong. 2011 see's the re-release of 'Living in the western World' complete with unreleased bonus tracks and an original unreleased documentary DVD from 1982. The band will be touring extensively throughout the year.
